Rule and Importance of Prophet Muhammad in Islam:

The rule and importance of Prophet Muhammad in Islam are profound and multifaceted. His teachings, actions, and legacy continue to shape the faith and lives of Muslims worldwide. Understanding his significance is essential for comprehending the depth of Islamic belief and practice. Here, we explore the rule and importance of Prophet Muhammad in Islam:

1.  The Finality of Prophethood

Islam teaches that Prophet Muhammad is the final prophet and messenger of Allah. Surah Al-Ahzab (33:40) states:

“Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets.”

This verse emphasizes the finality of prophethood with the advent of Muhammad, underscoring the completeness and perfection of the Islamic message.

2. The Quranic Revelation

The Quran, believed to be the literal word of God, was revealed to Prophet Muhammad over approximately 23 years. Surah Al-Qiyamah (75:16-19) describes the process of revelation, stating:

“Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with the recitation of the Qur’an. Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].”

This passage shows the divine transmission of the Quranic verses to Prophet Muhammad, highlighting his pivotal role in conveying the message to humanity.

3. The Role of the Sunnah

The Sunnah, comprising the sayings, actions, and approvals of Prophet Muhammad, is considered an essential source of guidance for Muslims. Surah Al-Ahzab (33:21) emphasizes the exemplary nature of Prophet Muhammad’s conduct, stating:

“There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.”

This verse underscores the importance of following the Sunnah as a means to attain righteousness and draw closer to Allah.

How Many Times Is Muhammad Mentioned in the Quran?

Prophet Muhammad is explicitly mentioned by name in the Quran five times in total. Four of these occurrences mention the name “Muhammad,” while one mentions the name “Ahmad,” which is also one of his names.

Additionally, he is implicitly mentioned many times with other terms such as “the Messenger,” “the Prophet,” and “the Unlettered Prophet.”

Surah 47 of the Quran is named after him, known as Surah Muhammad. Here are the verses where the name of Prophet Muhammad is mentioned in the Quran:

1. The Messenger of Allah

Surah Al-Imran (3:144):

“Muhammad is but a messenger. [Other] messengers have passed on before him. So if he was to die or be killed, would you turn back on your heels [to unbelief]? And he who turns back on his heels will never harm Allah at all; but Allah will reward the grateful.”

2. The Seal of the Prophets

Surah Al-Ahzab (33:40):

“Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing.”

3. Belief in the Truth Revealed to Muhammad

Surah Muhammad (47:2):

“But those who believe and do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down upon Muhammad – and it is the truth from their Lord – He will remove from them their misdeeds and amend their condition.”

4. The Strength and Mercy of Muhammad

Surah Al-Fath (48:29):

“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers – so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.”

5. Glad Tidings of Ahmad

And the only verse where the name “Ahmad” is in Surah As-Saff (61:6):

“And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, ‘O Children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.’ But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, ‘This is obvious magic.’

These verses, along with indirect references, contribute to the comprehensive portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad’s mission and character in the Quran.

Descriptions and Titles of Prophet Muhammad

Although the name “Muhammad” is mentioned explicitly only four times in the Quran, numerous verses indirectly refer to him through descriptions, titles, and honorifics. These references contribute to the comprehensive portrayal of his mission and character. Some of the titles and descriptions attributed to Prophet Muhammad in the Quran include:

So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him – it is those who will be the successful.”

2. The Seal of the Prophets:
