The essence of worshipping Allah is to wholeheartedly submit to His greatness, and to willingly surrender to His might, with the certainty of that there is no power, nor might, except that with Allah. Simply, this is entirely reflected when making dua’, as it is a sincere, humble return to Allah, seeking His refuge, mercy, and grace. Therefore, the Prophet (PBUH) said: “The most excellent worship is Dua.” (Sahih Al-Jami)

As it is such a special communication with our Lord, the All-Capable; He is The One Who says to anything in life “Be” and it is! Du’a is so empowering, as it directly connects us- the limited human beings- to the Lord- The All-Powerful. The Prophet (SAW) said, “Dua turns away destiny and good deeds lengthen age.” (Tirmidhi)
The Dua is The Safe-Space:
Du’a is so assuring, and relieving! In dua’, we can just burst into tears, without uttering a single word, knowing that Allah knows it all. Also, we can express all our deep feelings and needs, letting out all our uncertainties, weakness and distress, without getting shy, ashamed, nor afraid of blaming, or whatsoever. Besides His encompassing knowledge of all things, and the good and bad for us, Allah grants us dua’, as He knows well our vulnerability, and constant need for Him:
يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ٤
[He knows what is within the heavens and earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare. And Allāh is Knowing of that within the breasts.] [At-Taghabun: 4].
The Dua gets the Answer from Allah:
Dua’ is that meaningful act of worship that was the answer, when some believers asked about Allah, and how to spiritually communicate with His Majesty; in addition, Allah promises us to answer our calls, once making dua’ sincerely to Him.
وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِى وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِى لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ ١٨٦
[And when My servants ask you, [O Muḥammad], concerning Me – indeed I am Near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.] [Al-Baraqah: 186].
