Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) said, “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).”
Praying for the guidance of your children is a highly encouraged act in Islam, as emphasized by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Just as he forbade parents from making negative supplications against their children, even when they make mistakes, he highlighted the power of a parent’s dua for their child. Allah always hears the sincere prayers of parents for their children.

Dua for an Obedient Child
Let me share with you some Du’as from the Quran, Sunnah, and comprehensive Du’a for children to be obedient.
Here are some if the Duas:
O Allah, guide my children, keep them steadfast in prayer, and establish them on the path of obedience. O Allah, make my children guided and guiding others, be pleased with them, forgive them, and rectify their affairs.
Transliteration: | Allahumma ihdi abna’i, wa thabbit’hum ‘ala as-salah, wa aqimhum fi tareeq at-ta’ah. Allahumma aj‘al abna’i hudatan muhtadeen, warda ‘anhum, waghfir lahum, wa aslih halahum. |
| In Arabic: | اللهم اهدِ أبنائي، وثبّتهم على الصلاة، وأقمهم في طريق الطاعة، اللهم اجعل أبنائي هُداةً مُهتدين، وارضَ عنهم، واغفر لهم، وأصلح حالهم. |
O Allah, I ask You to guide my children to Your obedience, open the paths of goodness for them, and direct them to the ways of success and triumph in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, guide me and my children among those You have guided, grant me and them health among those You have granted health, protect me and them among those You have protected, and shield us from the evil of what You have decreed. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.
Transliteration: | Allahumma inni as’aluka an tahdi awladi liṭa‘atika wa an taftaḥ lahum ṭuruq al-khayr, wa turshidahum ila subul al-falaḥ wal-fawz fi ad-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma ihdini wa abna’i fi man hadayt, wa ‘aafini wa iyyaahum fi man ‘afayt, wa tawallani wa iyyaahum fi man tawallayt, wa qina sharra ma qadhayt, tabarakta rabbana wa ta‘alayt. |
| In Arabic: | اللهم إنّي أسألك أن تهدي أولادي لطاعتك وأن تفتح لهم طُرق الخير، وتُرشدهم إلى سُبل الفلاح والفوز في الدنيا والآخرة. اللهم اهدني وأبنائي فيمن هديت وعافني وإيّاهم فيمن عافيت، وتولّني وإيّاهم فيمن تولّيت، وقِنا شرّ ما قضيت، تبارك ربّنا وتعاليت. |
“My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteousness of which You approve, and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims.” (Surah Al-Ahqaf: 15)
Transliteration: | Rabbi awzi‘ni an ashkura ni‘mataka allati an‘amta ‘alayya wa ‘ala walidayya wa an a‘mala salihan tardaahu wa aslih li fi dhurriyyati inni tubtu ilayka wa inni mina al-muslimeen. |
| In Arabic: | رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي إِنِّي تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ |
“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [also] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.” (Surah Ibrahim: 40)
Transliteration: | Rabbi aj‘alni muqeema as-salati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du‘a.’ |

Dua For Righteous Obedient Child
O Allah, make them obedient to me, not disobedient, not defiant, and not sinful. O Allah, help me to raise them, discipline them, and guide them to righteousness, and make that a source of goodness for me and for them.
O Allah, attach their hearts to the mosques and to Your obedience and make them among those who turn to You sincerely, love You deeply, and seek You earnestly. O Allah, make them preservers of Your Book, callers in Your path, and messengers of Your Prophet. O Allah, make the great Quran the spring of their hearts, a healing for their chests, and a light for their vision.
Transliteration: | Allahumma aj‘alhum li muti‘eena ghayra ‘asina wa la ‘aqeena wa la khati’eena, Allahumma a‘inni ‘ala tarbiyatihim wa ta’deebihim wa birrihim waj‘al dhalika khayran li wa lahum, Allahumma ‘alliqa quloobahum bil-masajid wa bi-ta‘atika, waj‘alhum min awjahi man tawajja’a ilayk wa ahabbak wa raghaba ilayk. Allahumma aj‘alhum huffazhan likitabik wa du‘atan fee sabilik wa muballigheena ‘an rasoolik, Allahumma aj‘al al-Qur’ana al-‘azeema rabee‘a quloobihim wa shifaa’a sudoorihim wa nooran li-absarihim. |
| In Arabic: | اللهم اجعلهم لي مطيعين غير عاصين ولا عاقين ولا خاطئين، اللهم أعني على تربيتهم وتأديبهم وبرهم واجعل ذلك خيرًا لي ولهم، اللهم علق قلوبهم بالمساجد وبطاعتك، واجعلهم من أوجه من توجه إليك وأحبك ورغب إليك. اللهم اجعلهم حفظة لكتابك ودعاة في سبيلك ومبلغين عن رسولك، اللهم اجعل القرآن العظيم ربيع قلوبهم وشفاء صدورهم ونورًا لأبصارهم. |
O Allah, do not let the hearts of my children deviate after You have guided them. Grant them mercy from Yourself and guide them in all their affairs to what is right. O Allah, bless me with the continued presence of my children and make them a source of righteousness for me. O Allah, extend their lives with health and wellness, keeping them in Your obedience and Your pleasure.
Transliteration: | Allahumma la tuzigh quloob abna’i ba’da idh hadaytahum wahab lahum min ladunka rahmah, wa heyyi’ lahum min amrihim rushdan. Allahumma munn ‘alayya bibaqaa’i awladi wa b’islahim li wa b’imta’i bihim. Allahumma amidd fi a’marihim bial-sihhati wal-‘afiyah fi ta’atik wa ridhak. |
| In Arabic: | اللهم لا تزغ قلوب أبنائي بعد إذ هديتهم وهب لهم من لدنك رحمة وهيئ لهم من أمرهم رشدًا. اللهم مُنّ على ببقاء أولادي وبإصلاحهم لي وبإمتاعي بهم، اللهم أمدد في أعمارهم بالصحة والعافية في طاعتك ورضاك |
O Allah, I ask You to guide my children to what You love and are pleased with, and to bring them back to me, teaching them what benefits them in this world and the Hereafter. Verily, You have power over all things, and You are the best protector and helper. Peace be upon the messengers, and all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
Transliteration: | Allahumma inni as’aluuka an tahdi abna’i ila ma tuhibbu wa tarda, wa an turidduhum ilayya wa tu’allimhum ma yanfa’uhum fi ad-dunya wal-akhirah. Innaka ‘ala ma tashaa’u qadeer, wa ni’ma al-mawla wa ni’ma an-naseer. Salaamun ‘ala al-mursaleen, wal-hamdu lillahi rabbil ‘aalameen. |
| In Arabic: | اللهم إني أسالك أن تهدي أبنائي لما تحب وترضى، وأن تردهم إلي وتعلمهم ما ينفعهم في الدنيا والآخرة إنك على ما تشاء قدير ونعم المولى ونعم النصير وسلام على المرسلين والحمد لله رب العالمين |
